BOSSY, Phatrabbit, and DJ Lloyd at MuHo
BOSSY stirring the crowd into a sweet and delicious (Mc)Flurry
Saturday night at Music House, three excellent acts took to the stage for a fantastic and memorable show. It started strong with indie-punk outfit BOSSY, a sophomore group consisting of Jackie Manginelli (’19), Elizabeth Townsend (’19), Ona Lepeska-True (’19), Mika Yakoba-Zohar (’19), and Helly Manson (’19). Their youthful energy and commanding stage presence made for a delightfully entertaining set that got the crowd dancing. They started the show with a raucous cover of “I Know What Boys Like” by The Waitresses and from the onset of their performance the crowd was moving around and having a great time. After playing a mix of originals and a Courtney Barnett cover, BOSSY closed their set with a rendition of "Bulletproof" by La Roux, exuding an indie-rock vibe with a pop accessibility that made for a remarkable and buoyant time. Next up was Phatrabbit, a senior band composed of Josh Bloom (’17), Eli Spector (’17), Will Dudek (’17), and Andrew Rock (’17). Phatrabbit’s highly anticipated set did not disappoint, coinciding with the celebration of their self-titled debut album released at midnight following their set. Phatrabbit opened with “Skinny Legs” accompanied by an array of confetti guns, egging the crowd into full swing as the crowded Music House balcony emptied into the room. The dancefloor quickly became a chaotic, crowded place filled with jumping fans shouting every word of Phatrabbit’s beloved songs. As well as playing classics like “Seventeen” and “Drown”, the band played songs off their new album that enthralled the audience with every note. The set closed with members of BOSSY joining Phatrabbit for an energetic performance of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers that culminated in a mess of balloons, confetti, and silly string. The show was a resounding success and an excellent way to preface the release of Phatrabbit’s eponymous debut album.

After all the high octane rock, the show was closed out by Middletown’s very own DJ Lloyd who provided a buzzing DJ set that kept the crowd going after Phatrabbit’s phenomenal set. It's exciting to see where the careers of these talented musicians will take them next, and the campus is certainly looking forward to more explosive concerts from Bossy, Phatrabbit, and DJ Lloyd.
