Weekend Preview 5/4 - 5/6

A couple of sweet shows to finish off the school year :') While this is the last preview, look forward to some end of the year recaps to send you off to summer.

Battle of the Cover Bands

Music House // Thursday 9:30 PM

Facebook Event

Battle of the cover bands is a celebration of Wes students’ ability to butcher songs of the bands that they love. Nah, I’m kidding, Battle of the Cover Bands (BOTCB for short) is going to be a goofy good time with some of your favorite artists featured on the line up. Dance thru Sky Ferreira’s electro-pop, weep along to Elliot Smith, bob to Kimya Dawson and groove to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sponsored by Aural Wes, feat. some of our staff writers!

GOOtype BOSShaviors (BOSSY, GOO, and GIRLTYPE BEHAVIORS)

Earth House // Thursday 9:30 PM

Facebook Event

BOSSY is Beth Townsend ‘19, Jackie Manginelli ‘19, Helly Manson ‘19, Mika Yakoba-Zohar ‘19, and Ona Lepeska-True ‘19. At this point most people know most of the words to their song “Earl.” So, take a walk around Weshop and study up if you want to fit in.

Goo is Bram Wollowitz ‘19 (Bass, Vocals), Rebecca Zegans ‘18 (Guitar, Vocals), and Sam Friedman ‘18 (Drums, Vocals). After a fantastic performance at Psi U including covers of “Blister in the Sun” by Violent Femmes and “Wave of Mutilation” and Pixies, Goo is back for another great show.

Girltype Behaviors has been described as "elevator music for kids who are too young to feel nostalgic for riot grrrl but do anyway." It's "snack punk" with loads of guitar sounds carried through with sweet synth-y layers.

BOYSCOTT (+ Blaketheman1000, Phatrabbit, Slumbers, & Woozles)

Art House // Friday 8:30 PM

Facebook Event

Boyscott are from Nashville. They wear fashionable windbreakers and play layered guitar pop, with some pretty vocals and they occasionally get kind of angsty. They describe their genre as “rocky indie even poppy kinda honestly idk c’mon.”

Blaketheman1000 /// grunge hipster goth pop rokk, its all about the tonez and the garageband plug-ins.

phatrabbit /// local honest rick n roll lovers, who could forget.

Emma from Slumbers /// emma from the famous band Slumbers, expect so-lo renditions.

Woozles (solo) /// connecticut bedroom dream popper ♥, low-key and woozy (no pun intended)

Sloane Peterson (+ DJ Ice Kold)

Bennet Courtyard // Friday 9:00 PM

Come check out the first Bennet Courtyard show in recent memory!! Featuring Sloane Peterson, a four-piece band that mixes 80s pop and 70s punk to make the catchiest headache you could ever give yourself. And DJ Ice Kold, who is sure to play some *cool* jams.

Suhail Yusuf Khan

Alpha Delt

Suhail Yusuf Khan is a classically trained Hindustani musician. A current Wes grad student getting his master’s in music, he plays the sarangi, an Indian bowed string instrument. His music is a fascinating fusion of Indian classical, experimental, and pop music. He was named a Forbes India “30 Under 30.” Check this out (it’s sick!):
