Marigo Farr & Jackie Dodd
(+Jack Lewis & Katie Solomon)

Farm House // Friday 9 PM

Facebook Event

Marigo Farr, accompanied by Jackie Dodd, brings her pensive and pretty folk tunes to Farm House. Farm House? It’s been a bit since there’s been a concert there, so consider this an exceptionally cozy treat. There’s a forecast of singalong and kimchi-making with a chance of dance.

Wesleyan’s own Jack Lewis and Katie Solomon will open the night with some of their own sultry folk.

Mitski (+Wishbone & Babelar)

Earth House // Friday 10 PM

Facebook Event

PitchBjörk “graced” Mitski with a nomination as one of three musicians to ever  successfully reference The Simpsons. Beyond this feat, the band’s third LP, Bury Me at Makeout Creek, immediately sounds like St. Vincent meets Frankie Cosmos: half alt. rock half songwriter style half Alvvays half guitars half “I’m not gonna be what my body wants me to be.” Being buried alive and making out with something at the same time sounds half exciting to me. Molly digs.

Wishbone slithers out of the garage and onto the big stage for their Wesleyan debut. Guitars are crunchy.

Babelar wants to hug you brutally. Like the fabled genre of Schrödinger Scat, the Faceplant of yesteryear may or may not be dead, but Babelar always liked dogs better. Bring your finest pair of Docs, you’re gonna want to dance. It might also be a punk show.

Juan Wauters (+Rachel Connor's Picture Show)

Art House // Saturday 10 PM

Facebook Event

Juan Wauters asks you “what is fun?” on his loopy, earnestly musing track “Water.”  This turtlenecked goofball/quirk icon-on-the rise doesn’t mince words. His wisdom is of the ice cream truck variety, and Twitchfork dubbed him “a kind of playground philosopher.” Get it? His twangy folk is gooey enough for your V-day slowdance and offbeat enough to make sleazy eye contact with your crush feel sorta OK. Mr. Wauters may be accompanied by an internationally-sourced musical carnival replete with authentic mood-altering capabilities.

Rachel Connor's Photo Show is #coo #folk #live. One of the biggest, friendliest musical bouquets around,  this collective of dreamy folk-weavers will be all of the above as they open for Mr. Wauters.

Hotel Garuda (+Indi, M. Vaughan, & Ron Beatz)

Beckham Hall // Saturday 10 PM

Facebook Event

Jon Krakauer's book "INTO THIN AIR" says...
“Rob Hall had booked us in at the Garuda Hotel, a friendly establishment in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu's tourist district. The Garuda has been popular with expeditions bound for the Himalayas, and its walls were covered with signed photographs of famous alpinists who'd slept there over the years.” If this DJ duo is as charming as its Nepalese counterpart, then you’re in for a pretty steamy Valentine’s Day (with a famous alpinist, perhaps). After a long day galavanting around in the snow, we'll all be thinking “I wish I was in a really large room dancing to lush, tropical club music right now” and “Lana Del Rey always sounded better in a blender.”
